When We Earnestly Seek Him
When We Earnestly Seek Him
It’s amazing what God can do in your life when you dedicate yourself to Him. It’s amazing the impact He can have on your life. I’ve seen it so many times in people I know and love dearly.
Recently I’ve been doing more devotionals that are specific to prayer. Not on purpose, but because that’s just what God had pop up on my iPad while I was looking through devotionals on the YouVersion Bible app. (If you don’t have this app I highly recommend it!)
Last week I completed The Anna Anointing devotional. Talking all about Anna and her devotion to God and her fervent prayer life. And I’m going to be completely honest with you, I had NO idea there was an Anna in the Bible. No idea. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. But, besides that, I learned so much about her.
Anna was a prophetess and a widow...her husband died about 7 or so years after they got married. Could you imagine that!? Being married for not even a decade and loose your wife or husband. Well it happened to her. And she chose to not remarry...not because she felt like she wasn’t allowed, but because she decided to dedicate the rest of her life to God and in prayer. There’s only a handful of women in the Bible who have the title as a Prophetess, so you know when someone has that title it isn’t just thrown around willy-nilly. She was in the temple daily, earnestly seeking after God...if us as women of God could live up to any example it would be Anna’s. Oh how I want to earnestly seek after God.
In Psalms 63:1 David says “O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.” David also knew what it was like to earnestly seek after God...his relationship with God was so strong.
I’m now doing a devotional called “Falling In Love Again With Hour Lord”. And so far, on day 3 it’s already so powerful. On day 1 it was powerful! But it’s calling us to a higher standard as far as our relationship with God. One of the questions asked is “Where am I in my walk with God?” And when we answer it honestly...because God knows...it’s eye opening.
When we earnestly seek after God we need to ask him to do what we are unable to do. When we ask him to search our hearts and reveal to us what we are holding on to, clinging to, that is stopping us from going deeper in our relationship with Him, we are allowing him to take control. Letting God have full control is something our flesh struggles to do. We are carnally minded. And when we feed our flesh more than we are feeding our spirit it’s a hug game of tug-of-war. But when we earnestly seek him, we are feeding our heart, soul, and mind with Godly things. We are allowing our hearts to grow a deeper relationships with Him. That’s ultimately what I want. A deep, stronger, unbreakable relationship with my God.
Psalms 37:4-5 says “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.”
We always want what we want. And when we know that if we delight ourselves in the Lord that he will give us the desires of our heart. The REAL AND TRUE GODLY desires of our heart...doesn’t that make you want to just jump in!? He will REWARD us if we earnestly seek after him! Do we know what those rewards will be? No. But with God, we know that whatever it is it’s going to be good. Because he knows our heart.
If you’ve been struggling recently to take that first big step into that relationship with God...let my words be encouragement to you. What do you have to fear? You will only grow and get better with God. And when you seek after Him and chose His ways over your own...he will bless you for that and REWARD you! He’s the God of Joy and Peace, and he wants you to take that step and to earnestly seek after him. It’s going to be worth it all.
