Jesus I’m Yours: Day 4
“How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!”
Psalms 147:5 NLT
“God replied to Moses, “ I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.””
Exodus 3:14 NLT
“Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.”
Psalms 90:2 NLT
Sovereign is a word that is used to describe a supreme ruler.
As Christians we believe that God is the ruler over the heavens and the earth. He is the ultimate ruler and king over all. He’s the one that made the heavens and the earth, Genesis 1:1. John 1:1-5 also has a very powerful meaning, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

In the beginning the WORD already existed. What Word? Gods Word.
The thoughts of scriptures to come years later was already in existence. He created everything, and nothing could have been created without Him. Talk about power. Talk about a sovereign ruler. The creator of all.

In Psalm 147:5 it says that His power is absolute. His understanding is beyond comprehension.
Absolute. There’s a couple meanings to this word, one is that, whatever is absolute has not diminished in anyway. It hasn’t gotten weaker, or decayed.
Another is that it’s not able to be compared to anything, it’s not in relation to other things.
Another is that it’s not able to be compared to anything, it’s not in relation to other things.
In life we all seem to compare ourselves to others. Even in church...(yeessss it's true!) We compare our worship to others, or how our hair is, or how we have dressed that day.
Women probably more so than men.
But with God there is no such thing as comparing him to anything or anyone. He is absolute.
His power is absolute, of it’s own kind and nothing is like it. Just like his power, his understanding is something we can’t explain. He knows everything and that’s something that our earthly minds can’t comprehend.
You might be thinking, why are we looking at these characteristics instead of the word sovereign.
Because we know what sovereign means...but I want to focus on what makes God a sovereign ruler.
Just the fact that God knows what we are going to think and say is amazing.
But when we focus on how powerful he is and how he is all knowing, this puts into perspective how he truly is a sovereign God.
When we see how powerful and holy he is we can have a better understanding of what he can do.
The fact that God is sovereign means that he has the power, wisdom and authority to do what he chooses within his creation, since he is the creator.

We aren’t serving something that has little to no power, or someone who believes the power he possesses makes him too big to love us.
No.
Our God is Love, our God is faithful, our God is powerful and Holy and sovereign.
That same God is desperate for you. He wants you to love Him and serve Him and have a good and happy life!
It’s important to recognize His sovereignty, and praise Him daily for being such an awesome God.
